Seattle Prep offers a wide range of clubs that students can explore to find their own passion or interests. A few include Business Club, Crochet Club, Science Club. One of the clubs is Album Club which is run by Seniors Stephen Kassab ’26 and Anthony Caso ’26.

Kassab described how he has always had a love for music but it grew even more when he joined album club his sophomore year. With the help of his friend and Seattle Prep alumni, Chaz Witter, Kassab joined a community he always had a passion for. His active participation with the club allowed him to become one of the leaders. Kassab added that his motivation each meeting is “to stand on the shoulders of giants like Chaz Witter. I believe album club means respecting and continuing the mission of the Chaz Witter.”

But what does it mean to follow the mission of Witter? Kassab gave deeper insight to what each meeting usually looks like each month: “Pretty much we’ll start and we have discuss an album the meeting before and what we liked about it, if we liked the album at all, or what specific choices the artist made when making the album.”

Kassab then goes on to describe how him and Caso will choose four different albums that members can listen to or if they want to suggest another one. He believes that letting students nominate specific albums gives them a sense of expression of their music taste along with contributing to the club’s community.

Kassab believes that these meetings help bring a sense of community to students at Prep that share their enjoyment for music as much as him. He added that he especially enjoys it when big artists drop their albums since the club is able to listen to it together. Kassab shared that one of his favorite memories last year was when Playboi Carti dropped his album “I AM MUSIC” and the group members were able to listen to it together. He commented, “I feel like that’s a community of people that all like music and can enjoy something together.”

With a long year ahead, Album Club is set to continue its meetings consistently. Kassab comments that he is excited for the year ahead and the music that they will be listening too. He advises that students at Prep should give it a try and explore the community that album club has to offer. He left off with one piece of advice that can translate from music to students looking to find new passions, “People should stop listening to their same songs and explore more genres to see what their music taste could be like.”
