The 2013-14 school year is coming to a close, as are the terms of some very honored class presidents at our school. They have brought much greatness to the school and our city; the Seahawks won the Super Bowl, Mock Trial won nationals and the Mariners are actually above 500 for once.

However, now it is time to prepare for next year and to vote in new class presidents into the Oval Office, the OSL. Weeks of fierce campaigning took place on campus as the prep community all saw. Those running put up comical posters and gave speeches. Finally the votes are counted and the new Class Presidents for the 2014-15 year are: Nate Weiand ‘17, Patrick Paulsen ’16 and Maddie Tollner ‘15.

The Seattle Prep Panther decided to take a closer look at our new presidents to investigate deeper.

Working hard to make his poster stand out and making sure his speech really connected with his peers; Nate Weiand secured the big chair. He promised his class that they could call him their “Queen Bee” and he plans to always be accessible with his students and to contribute their ideas into conversations at ASB round table, sorry rectangular table. Nate is a very organized, hard-working and responsible person and will take those traits into his work with the ASB. He will try to create a greater sense of unity in the class. Weiand would like to see his peers fully develop into a class that is completely inclusive and also feels pride in being the Class of 2017.

Promising his peers to always listen and institute their ideas, Patrick Paulsen stepped into office. He graciously thanked all sophomores that voted him into his title. To be a good representative Paulsen plans on being unafraid and determined to do what is best; as well as taking into account and incorporating all of the rising juniors opinions no matter how crazy, irrational, and stupid, he’ll be happy to share them with Mr. Stearns. Paulsen know he is ready for this position as he quotes SpongeBob Squarepants, “I’m Ready!” He is most excited to make next years’ Olympic Week fun, fair, and fresher than ever. Paulsen is also excited to be able to make another ASB Christmas video. Paulsen promises that all his elaborate ideas from next year will be full of pizzazz and are going to be as excellent as Bill and Ted’s Adventure.

Hoping to make every club an activity more recognized by the school, Maddie Tollner takes the Presidential title. Having formed many great friendships in her three years so far at Prep, she knew everyone in her grade. Tollner is excited to plan dances and all the activities of the senior class. She “would love to get some fun out-of-school events started! Like a senior breakfast in the summer! Or a barbecue on a sunny day after class down on lower woodland.  (Tollner) want(s) to get the whole class closer.” Tollner has an outgoing personality and is open to hearing all that others has to say and she is willing to work very hard to give them what they asked for. She looks ahead to the future as president and is most excited for the sporting events. Tollner “can’t wait to help rally up the school for all the teams. Whether its basketball or the swim team (she) want(s) everyone to come and support” the Seattle Prep community.

The Prep Panther congratulates all ASB winners on their campaign wins and wishes them luck with next year, leading Prep forward.
