1… 2… 3 new ASB members! Freshmen Class President Daniel Soto and Freshmen Class Executives Lauren Teders and Matt Kennedy become Seattle Prep’s newest members of ASB. Despite being the smallest and youngest on campus, this terrific trio is ready to bring big change to Seattle Prep.

As the Seattle Prep freshmen saw in his election video, President Daniel Soto is musically gifted; he surprised his viewers as he busted out an artfully written rap. He attended middle school at Sacred Heart in Clyde Hill for ten years. As a sixth grader, he started to think about his high school experience. While visiting Seattle Prep in seventh grade, he “felt a large sense of community and togetherness” and “also thought the classes were fun and inclusive.”

Executive Lauren Teders had a similar impression of Prep: a “really welcoming, fun community that challenges you in a good way.” As a leader for her peers, she hopes “to be seen as a person that people know they can trust and be comfortable with.” She is very interested in theatre and possibly playing volleyball.

Last but not least, Executive Matt Kennedy is “really excited to be working with the ASB team to make this year as enjoyable as possible for the freshmen class.” He attended Maywood Middle School and was President of 1300 middle schoolers! Upon first coming to Prep, he knew it was a special place: “the upperclassmen wanted to make this first experience with Prep as positive as possible which perfectly illustrated the Prep Panther spirit.”

Soto, Teders, and Kennedy recognize how wonderful Prep already is and have great ideas to make it even better. Kennedy said he “would love to work with the other class executives to create some in-person connections, and possibly start some friendly competitions between classes.  Soto wants to start a biking club at Prep. Teders shared her goal for the freshmen: “I hope that my class can become really close and truly get to know everyone for who they are. I hope we can be a group of people that everyone can be comfortable with”.

Kennedy remains hopeful for an incredible year. When asked what he could would say to his freshmen class directly, he responded with “this year is not going to be perfect, but if we all try our best, we can come out of the other side of this challenge better than how we started. Roll Prep!”
