This month’s highly anticipated edition of Meet a Freshman features the musically-talented and amiable Matt Seib.  The Prep Panther staff members Meghan Kearney and Kate Delaney sat down with Matt and got to know a little bit about this unique member of the class of 2017.

When is your birthday?

MS: August 6th, 1998

What is your full name (first, middle, last)?

MS: My full name is Matthew John Seib.

Where were you born?

MS: I was born in Seattle, at Swedish.

What middle school did you attend?

MS: I went to St. Brendan’s in Bothell. *Represent*

Why did you want to come to Prep?

MS: I mostly came to prep because of the drama program, which was far better than the other high schools I was looking at.

Any brothers or sisters?

MS: I have one brother, Ben, who is a freshman in collage.

Are you in the musical? What is your role?

MS: I am in the musical, and I am one of the best fighters for the Jets–named Diesel.

Are you thinking about participating in any other Prep plays this year?

MS: I’m planning on doing the one act festival.

What is your favorite subject and why?

MS: My favorite subject is Chinese because I’ve never taken a language class and its just really fun.

What is your favorite band?

MS: My favorite band would probably be Fall Out Boy.

Three words I would use to describe myself would be…?

MS: Probably optimistic, affable, and courageous.

What is your favorite place in the world and why?

MS: I’d have to say Seattle because I love the rain.

What is your fondest childhood memory?

MS: For my sixth birthday, my friend and I both had a birthday party and we turned a park into a mini carnival and that was pretty awesome.

If you could meet anybody famous, who would it be and why?

MS: I’d want to meet Ed Sheeran because it would be amazing just to sing and have a jam session with him… it’s casual.

What is your spirit animal? Why?

MS: I would say my spirit animal is a puppy because I’m always happy and playful and just want to have fun.

What is the most disgusting thing you have ever eaten?

MS: Probably the toasted marshmallow jelly beans, those are terrible.

Do you play an instrument? If so, what do you play and how long have you been playing it?

MS: I mostly just play the guitar which I picked up just last year.

Are you more of a “glass half empty” type of person or a “glass half full” type of person?

MS: I am definitely more of a “glass half full” kind of person.

Favorite holiday?

MS: My favorite holiday is Christmas because who doesn’t love presents and snow??

Who is your role-model in life?

MS: My role model in life would be my brother. He’s always been there to just give me advice when I need it and he is just the best brother I could have.

Beyoncé or Rihanna?

MS: Definitely going with Beyoncé.

Car that best represents your personality?

MS: Maybe like a tesla because it’s a reliable, all electric sports car, and I guess I’m pretty reliable… I’m not very fast though…

Sweet or sour?

MS: Sour all the way.

What is your idea of a perfect day?

MS: Probably like going to a fair or a carnival with your friends and just hanging out, overspending on worthless things.
