As students transition from summer to fall, juniors and seniors at Prep find themselves entering one of the busiest times of the year. Seniors are diving headfirst into the college application process, and juniors are starting to explore potential colleges and plan their future academic paths. There are many opportunities at Prep for juniors and seniors to learn about colleges, one of which is through the college visits that happen on campus. These visits provide a unique chance for students to meet to gather firsthand information, ask questions about the application process, and learn about campus life. These college visits are a pivotal resource for juniors to spark the initial steps of their college search, while seniors can solidify their choices and gain insights that can influence their final decisions.
The visits are a great way for students to make a good first impression, as the representative who comes to talk to the students is the same person who reads the applications. When students go to a meeting, attendance is taken, which helps schools know who is interested in possibly applying. Mrs. Foy, the Director of Counseling at Seattle Prep said, “I recommend students learn about the colleges before they attend the visits and ask lots of questions that are not easily found on their school website.”
One of the most important things that students get out of attending college visits, is that they leave with a point of contact. They receive the representative’s email, so they can reach out with any questions or further clarification they are wondering about.
These visits not only offer a deeper understanding of various colleges, but also help students visualize their future academic environments. Moving forward, students can take the insights to refine their college lists, seek further guidance, and prepare for applications. With the opportunity of going to these visits, Prep is ensuring that both juniors and seniors are well-prepared and confident as they take the next steps toward their college careers.
