Ms. Andrea Gutierrez is back for another year at Prep as an Alumni Service Corps (ASC) member alongside three of her former classmates, all graduates of the Class of 2020. Gutierrez graduated from Gonzaga University in May and reflected upon what drove her to come back to Prep, “I decided I’m going to lean in because I love Prep, and I loved my time here as a student.”
Before Prep, Gutierrez went to Saint Anthony’s School for grade school in Renton, where she has lived her whole life. Students may be familiar with Ms. Gutierrez’s three siblings, Mario Gutierrez ‘25, Isabella Gutierrez ‘27, and her older sister Ms. Anasofia Gutierrez who served as an ASC member in 2022-23.
During Gutierrez’s time at Prep, she mainly ran cross-country and track and is excited to be helping this year as an assistant coach for both teams. She is also interested in and wants to learn more about Prep’s Cooking Club, which was started during her Junior year.
A big part of Gutierrez’s role this year is in the LRC; helping check in on students, proctor tests, working with NHS peer tutors, and much more. As a student, the LRC was a huge support to Gutierrez and she knew she wanted to devote her time there, “This space was so supportive, and it impacted me so greatly, I just have so much gratitude to give back to Prep and want to support our students in this space.”
After this year as an ASC member, Gutierrez’s plans to apply for a master’s degree and go to graduate school. Right now, Gutierrez is excited and grateful for her new opportunities to give back to the Prep community, “I’m really grateful to be here because this is providing me with experience working with students and learning the different aspects of a school environment.”
