The Boys Swim and Dive team wrapped up their season at King County Aquatics Center with a 16th place finish at the 3A state championship last.
Their performance at state finished a season that showed great improvement from recent years. “I think our season was great compared to last year,” noted Grant Salerno ’26.
This was the first season since 2020 that swimmers from Prep made it to the state championships. Salerno, in addition to Rhys Harnett ‘23, Bradyn Buckholtz ’23, and Zach Wilson ’25 swam in the Boys 200 Yard Freestyle Relay. After making it through the prelims on Friday, they returned on Saturday to swim in the final. They ended up placing 16th, less than a second behind Silas High School.
Salerno observed how the level of competition at state was much higher than in the regular season. “The swimmers were really fast,” he said.
Diver Bear Swan 25’ also competed at state for his event. He also made it through the prelims and competed in the finals on Thursday, where he placed 11th.
The future of the Boys Swim and Dive team is bright, with lots of young talent hoping to contribute to the team in the future. Salerno said he was excited to improve next season, and “looking forward to another opportunity at state.”
