Girls Soccer Shoots for their Goals

Coming off a superb season last year, just barely coming short of the state title, the girls’ soccer team strives to find success again this year. They are starting strong with a record of 5-1-6 and are looking to “secure the dub” as often as they can moving forward said Emory Bozzuti ‘24.

Coach Hendricks, who many know as “Hendy,” is ready to compete with the expectation for his team of excelling this season, making it to the state playoffs, collecting the metro and state titles along the way.

In terms of the bigger picture, Hendy wants his athletes to “come away with a sense of pride and empowerment” and overall “grow as individuals.”

Not only are the girls on the soccer team dedicated athletes, but they are also supportive teammates. As Bozzuti stressed, “they don’t work hard for just themselves, they work hard for each other.”

In spending so much time together at practice, during games, before games eating pre-game bagels, on the bus, during lunch at their team lunches- it’s fair to say that in season they are just as much a family as they are a team.

One way the girls are brought even closer is through their shared love of Celsius. They are avid Celsius drinkers, as Eleanor Cromett ‘24 said, “in the locker room, on the bus, or wherever you can always hear the fresh popping noise of the Celsius cans opening.”

Flavors can range from Fuji Apple to Peach vibe, and it is not likely the team will be hopping off the Celsius train anytime soon.

Their ability to persevere despite adversity, their hustle, and their driven mindset are voiced to be vital strengths of the girls’ soccer team. Articulated by Hendy, “the team is made up of a lot of high-quality athletes who can fulfill a variety of roles.”

Not to be forgotten are Ashley Heim ‘24’s corner kicks described to be “pearls” by Bozzuti.
