Summer is rapidly approaching and that means its time to start the hunt for a summer job. The summer is a great time to earn some extra money, gain some more work experience and feel a little bit more like an adult. Whether it be an internship, a part time job or a full time job now is the time to lock one down.
For freshman, sophomores and juniors finding jobs can be slightly harder only because they are not eighteen years old, which is the age most business will start hiring. But just because these students are not eighteen does not mean they cannot get a job. Many students find work in popular jobs like mowing lawns, babysitting and busing tables at local restaurants. If you are looking for an outdoor job this summer and hoping to get a good tan, lifeguarding is another great option. Becoming a lifeguard requires some basic classes but if you are a good swimmer and have a knack for attention to detail lifeguarding may be the job for you.
Restaurants like Portage Bay Café will hire sixteen year olds to work as hostesses and work their way up to waiting tables. Even though it is summer many kids need help to stay on top of their education. High school students make for perfect tutors and this job tends to have a flexible schedule. Camps like Firwood or YMCA offer positions as counselers, which is very appealing to those who enjoy spending time with kids and being outdoors.
The search for a summer job can be competitive and time consuming so now is the time to start, but luckily there are so many different options and a job out there for everyone.
