This year’s swim season is going to be an exciting one. After the already amazing girls pre-swim season, this one’s going to be a great follow-up. The season started on October 8th for the girls that did pre-season swimming and it started on November 16th for the boys, it is now co-ed.
The season will go until the boys’state championship which is in February. In all, there about 75 swimmers on the team this year. The swimmers practice at Seattle University but their home meets are at Meadowbrook pool.
The Prep swim team had their first exciting meet on December 6th versus Franklin High School. During the swim season there are about nine to ten swim meets against one school or one club. The next meet is on December 20th versus Bainbridge High School at Bainbridge Pool. The head coach is Tom Campbell and the assistant coaches are Leslie Lorenz and Skye McConnell. They are currently busy preparing for their intense season by holding swim practices twice a day, which students can choose between.
The guys and girls are together a lot throughout the season. For example they have the same workouts, although they are separated by lanes. Lots of the people on the team qualify for metro, district, and/or state and when they’re at these events there are awards handed out to the best swimmers at the races. The Seattle Prep community awaits a good rap up to this interesting season.
This is sure to be a great season for the swimmers so go out and support the Panthers at some of their many meets!
