Quiz Bowl Tests Contestants Knowledge

As expected, Olympic Week’s 2018 quiz bowl competition was wicked! Contestants began this event by trying to complete a five-page test with their fellow classmates.  The questions on the test spanned from listing Nobel Prize winners to naming all eight of the Kardashian grandchildren, and they were very, very hard.

The faculty, seniors, and Hopkins Collegio were the three teams that scored highest on the test, advancing them to the final round which was played jeopardy style.  There were four categories: history, literature, STEM, and culture, each with seven questions about the said subjects.

From the get go, the Seniors led the competition. However, they were quickly overtaken by the older and wiser faculty team, who maintained their lead for the rest of the event. With the faculty win established, the junior and senior teams battled for second, answering questions about a recent World Series winner and the author of Twilight. The final question, “this popular musical is effected to as the untold story of the Wizard of Oz,” was answered correctly by Senior Emma Cooney, who led her team to a second-place victory over Hopkins Collegio. The answer was “Wicked,” an appropriate ending to this fierce competition.
