It’s that time of year again. Seventh inning stretches, 3 strikes you’re out, and no more intentional walks. Baseball and softball season is upon us. This should be an exciting year for these Panther teams.

Prep Baseball, lead by Michigan commit Jesse Franklin and Portland commit Jacob Terao, looks to build off of a playoff season last year that ended in a 5-4 loss to Columbia River. The Panthers open their season on March 13th against West Seattle. Notable games this season include a trip down to Palm Desert, CA to take on Xavier Prep twice down in the sun. Panther players like Peter Lydon ’18, are excited and feeling confident about the season: ” things are going good; team is looking real nice. We’re excited to see how things are going to pan out over the course of this year.” Look out for Prep Baseball this year.

Prep’s Softball Team also looks to be a contender this year. The team “returns a lot of players but also has a lot of new talent coming in” in the words of Mackenzie Skogland ’18. “We have a good team and are bettering are skills with every practice. The team is really excited to play together and get to know each other this year” adds Skogland. The team will get their first chance to play together on March 13th when they take on Seattle Christian. They hope to improve off of a 7-15 season last year that put them at 41st in the state, according to MaxPreps.com. Tough games on the schedule include Ballard on April 5th, and West Seattle on April 17th. Be sure to come out and support the Panthers at these big games.

It should be an exciting season for Prep Baseball and Softball. Look for these teams to do very well this year—it should be fun to watch.
