With each new school year, the Freshman class has an opportunity to elect a few of their own to leadership positions. The Panther sat down with the newly elected Frosh ASB officers to find out what makes them tick.
Name: Chinwe Ezeonu
Why do you want to be an ASB officer?
I want to be an ASB officer to leave a positive mark on the school. I want the students to remember to use their voices and be heard to good for their own selves. When I am on stage talking to students I feel very happy and excited seeing all the smiling faces in the crowd.
What qualifications make you a good ASB officer?
The qualifications that make me a good ASB officer are I like to talk to all kinds of people and make them feel welcome. I like to entertain people and make them laugh and smile. I enjoy being on stage, saying things people will remember and cherish, wondering who is that girl on stage?
What will you do to increase school spirit?
To get people excited I will talk to everyone, make them laugh, and get them excited about school spirit.
What extracurricular activities do you plan to do this year and how to you plan to balance these activities and ASB?
This coming year I plan to play basketball and sing in the choir and I believe I can maintain a good balance.
Were you ever an ASB officer at your middle school?
I have never been an ASB officer ever before.
Name: Sarah O’Donnell
Why do you want to be an ASB officer?
I want to be an ASB officer because it is important to me that the students are heard during big decisions and I want to be a part of that communication.
What qualifications make you a good ASB officer?
I am good at communicating with people as well as a good listener. I also love public speaking.
What will you do to increase school spirit?
As the freshman class president said, I believe that it’s crucial that the class of 2017 knows the fight song and can be the loudest in the school.
What extracurricular activities do you plan to do next this year, and how do plan to balance these activities and ASB?
This year I am playing Prep soccer and with enough concentration and motivation I can keep a good balance.
Were you ever an ASB officer at your middle school?
No, at my middle school we never got the opportunity to be a part of any student government so I am really looking forward to this experience!
Name: Daniel Hendricks
Why do you want to be an ASB officer?
I love having a leadership role and I feel really connected and spirited about prep and I want to spread that with my peers.
What qualifications make you a good ASB officer?
I have experience, organization, easygoing and I’m very social with all types of people.
What will you do to increase school spirit?
I want to try and get every student involved and maybe add some friendly competition.
What extracurricular activities do you plan to do this year and how do you plan to balance these activities and ASB?
I plan on playing football, baseball, and possibly basketball but I know I’ll still have lots of time for ASB because I’m organized and get my homework done.
Were you ever an ASB officer at your middle school?
Yes, I was the student body president in 8th grade and newspaper editor in 7th grade.
