Another season begins for the Seattle Prep Women’s Soccer Team. After winning back-to-back state championships in previous years, the team hopes to continue the legacy left to them.
Led by senior captains Jenay McAuley, Abby Rockwell, and Mary Anne Santucci, the team looks poised to make another run for state. They will face rivals Holy Names, Bishop Blanchet, Skyline, and Bainbridge. Forwards Andraya Flor, McAuley, Jalen Woodward, Clarissa Teodoro, Laura Roberts, Juliet Navone, and Santucci will be looked at to score key goals.
The defense anchored by senior goalie Abby Rockwell will look to lock-down against enemy offenses. Rockwell will be joined by Megan Floyd, Kathryn Zepeda, Olivia Ovenell, Ellie Harris, Katie Eckmann, Emma Pelly, and Ellie Roberts on defense. Rounding out the team at midfield will be Sam Hiatt, Grace Eckmann, Kate Murphy, and Maddie Quinn to name a few.
Before every game the team takes time to choose three words that will help them focus. They also pray a Hail Mary before every game. Finally, the field echoes with the cry, “WE ARE, SEATTLE PREP!”
What does it mean to be Seattle Prep? 12 first place finishes in Metro and four second place finishes in State. How about two back-to-back State Championships. This is what it means to be a part of the Seattle Prep Women’s Soccer program. We all look forward to another historic year with the lady-Panthers.
