Kostka Collegio thrills the crowd with a closing ceremony karaoke performance of Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond.

Seniors Take the Win at Closing Ceremonies

The roar of the crowd. The most skilled competitors on the school’s biggest stage. Cheers, insults, and class rivalries coming to a crescendo. Closing Ceremonies for Olympic Week 2017 closed off in grand style, if a bit predictably with an uncontested win from the Seniors, but with a few decidedly unpredictable twists. Karaoke was a definite highlight of the assembly, with a hilarious showing from the Sophomores, huge class participation from the Juniors, and an excellently choreographed finale from the Seniors. Freshmen didn’t disappoint either as Loyola Collegio claimed the second place slot overall with huge donations in the dollar bill and canned food drives. The Juniors of Teilhard Collegio took third and school dismissed with the student body pumped and full of energy.
The Ceremony brought about the finales of a few hugely popular and highly contested events – highlights being a drawn out and intense game of Spikeball in which the Seniors took the victory, an intense showdown between two great dancers in Kinect Dance-Off which left the Marquette Sophomores on top of the podium, and a heated game of handball from which Juana took home the 200 points. Students and faculty shined in the finales of a number of other exciting, if slightly less contested events, including everything from the more athletic Basketball and Volleyball to the less-anaerobic spelling bee, and the week was summed up by a very well edited video from the video club, a beautiful drone shot of human foosball raising an audible gasp from the audience. Classes jeered at each other, competitors hammed it up and accepted losses with dignity, and Olympic Week 2017 came to a dignified close, fierce grade rivalries and fiery dedication to class spirit tucked away until Olympic Week 2018.
