The Olympic Week Spike Ball finale thrilled the audience with a sudden-death finish.

Seniors Victorious in Thrilling Spike Ball Finale

Spike Ball is a game played between two teams of two, a hoola-hoop sized net, and a ball. To play Spike Ball, one serves the ball, by hitting the ball into the net and having it bounce off the net. The other team has three hits to bounce the ball back on the net without the ball touching the ground. This continues until the ball either, touches the ground, or hits the rim of the Spike Ball net, and a point is scored when any of these things occur. A team wins by scoring 11 points, and must win by two.

The Olympic Week Spike Ball games were played on the field and in the gym during the finals assembly. The third place game was played between the Sophomores and the Juniors. Although the game was close, the Juniors came out on top. The Juniors played the seniors in the finals assembly and it came down to the wire. The Seniors roared to an early four point lead, but the Juniors would not go away. The Juniors got to match point, but then the Seniors came back to match them, since the rules require a team to win by two, the game went on.

The Juniors would go up then the Seniors would match then the Seniors went up then the Juniors went up, and it continued on like this for a long time. Eventually ASB had to end the game (for time concerns), so they decided that the next team to score would win. The Seniors served the ball to the Juniors, but the juniors bounced the ball of the rim, giving the point and subsequent win to the Seniors.
