Hopkins Victorious in Olympic Week Ping Pong
Olympic week at Prep is always a competitive time, and the Ping Pong competitors this year did not break that trend. Each Ping Pong match that was played, both during tournament play and during the finals, was highly competitive, exciting, and impressive.
The crowd that gathered to watch the first day of the ping pong matches added to the high and spirited energy of the players. Because of this high energy, the games went by quickly, but not without competition. There were many upsets, and a total of three out of the four freshman made it to the second round.
The faculty’s contestant Mr. Mitchell lost in the second round, which lead to Hopkin’s Collegio’s Junior representative’s appearance in the finals. Marquette’s sophomore representative also made it to the finals, and on Friday they both battled it out in front of the entire school. It was a close match, but in the end Hopkins Collegio won the ping pong championship.
Playing for third was junior collegio Rahner and freshman collegio Xavier, a match which resulted in the victory of Rahner. This year, Prep’s Olympic Week tradition of ping pong did not disappoint, and it was a fun time for everyone involved.
