The volleyball finals pitted Loyola against Teilhard Collegios.

Volleyball Crunch Time

2017’s Olympic Week volleyball games have been rife with drama and competition. Collegio classes and grades may turn against each other, but those on the same team come together in an all-out effort to outplay their opponents.

An upset came from freshman Collegio, Loyola, who plowed through upperclassmen. Ultimately, Loyola Collegio prevailed against a team of seniors, including Colin Welp who towered over the net.

Opposing Loyola in the finals, was Teilhard, a junior team that was unrattled by the freshman win. Both teams had athleticism, however Teilhard had a vertical advantage with Cameron Hoffman. Despite this advantage, Teilhard had yet to prove themselves against upperclassmen, as Loyola has.

The volleyball championship on Friday was right down to the wire, ending with Loyola having a 1 point deficit. Freshman Marty Noffsinger scored 2 points in an attempt to pull through, but score keeper Mr. Hardy let 15 seconds run on the clock, giving the victory to Teilhard.
